Most ardently

Moonflake Press

I am delighted to have my flash story inspired by the relationship between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth published by Moonflake Press!!

“Still, the moon tells me to be patient.”

The Slipper

heartland society of women writers

I am delighted to have a short story published with Heartland Society of Women Writers! This is a retelling of Cinderella and follows her story after she marries the prince. I wanted to do a somewhat realistic portrayal of what royal women face and let’s just say, Cinderella may not have the happy ending we have come to expect.

“The pressure to be perfect is now a never-ending task.”

We could be stars

Mookychick

For this story, I was inspired to write a retelling of The Little Mermaid. I have always loved the Disney movie, however, I also appreciate the complexity of the original tale. It’s that complexity that I hoped to capture in this short story.

“I am not destined to be divine.”

Herstry

This is actually the first creative nonfiction story I’ve ever had published. It is about a time when I was in college and grappling with mental health problems. At the moment this story is based on, I didn’t yet realize that I was suffering from paranoia, but writing about it after the fact has made me notice things I didn’t initially take into count.

“Pepperoni is cunning. Like I said, it is clearly out to get me.”

The sun / the moon / time

White Wall Review

For these three flash stories, I wanted to give human traits, desires, and feelings to celestial beings, in particular, to the sun, the moon, and the concept of time. These are more musings or the inner thoughts of these such beings.

“Why would I ever wish to descend from my place on high?”

Just like fairy tales, mythology has also had a big impact on me. It was a great experience to write about Persephone.

“My mother could never fathom her precious, pure daughter wanting power.”
